Host Stand

Now that the hostesses work for tipout, the servers pay a percentage of their salary. This helps O'Charleys save payroll and also gives us more hostess hours up front. It sure is good to know that there is always at least one person watching the front door. This is better for our servers and for our guests. Thank you to whoever changed their method of pay. It is good to know that guests don't have to stand at the door wondering if we are open or if we care that they eat or leave.

The quality of the host's knowledge in coordinating the flow from the door is improving too. I hope this upward trend continues.

it has always amazed me how people bitch because they do not get sat enough but they do not bother trying to seat themselves when they see people at the door.

Last night was a great example of it getting better!!?? I saw at least three or four times 5-7 tables empty in the main alone and a wait at the front door. The hostess were all standing around waiting for another to do a table count...what you can't see that 30, 31, 42, 45, 51, 53, 54 are all empty and clean from the door? Come on how come we have to tip them out for double seating us when if they were paying attention they could have seated me then seated some one else and then come back to me after 4 other tables had been sat. This would have given me a chance to greet and at least get drinks down. Those little girls are not the brightest.
And we are paying half their salary.

What do you think you are going to get when they pay those girls at the front door $7.00 hr? Plus it is usually the first job they have ever had. You think they care about how much money the servers make?

well I think theres to many hostesses at the door they dont no what their doing,they spend most of their time fighting about who no"s what. There just taking money from thoes of us that are working.

To defend the hostess. Because I have been on both sides Server/host. Half the time the server has NO CLUE as to what is going on at the door. You may see people at the door and you may have open tables but what you do not know is that...... It maybe a party waiting for tables to be set up....or they want a booth...or your fucking tables aren't bussed OR PRE-BUSSED! (LAZY)... OR....maybe the guest requested a specific server(you never know, they might actually get good service from someone). Anyway...yeah, a lot of the young girls at the door might not care too much about their job. But being a asshole server to them won't get you too far either. You think you have to be brainless to be a hostess, we could go on and on about the brainless servers who can't do their sidework and leave their section a mess because they forgot how to use a broom and dustpan. Or how they don't know how to run food, roll silverware,or pre-bus their tables. Worry about your sidework, tables you currently have, pocket your $2.00 tip and leave the girls at the host stand alone.

Ok so now the hostess have accused Wynn of sexual harresment ... exactly what is it he was supposed to have done? Do they know how they can ruin someones life with an accusation like that? I never saw him do anything that Stacey or Derrick hadn't done. They occasionally came up and put an arm around someones should ... is that what was done? Please, they let Russ come back after being fired the first time for sexual harasment of the real kind "smacking girls on the butt" and knowing that he got fired from his last job for the same thing and now they get rid of Wynn with out and real evidence. Please this company really sucks I think I'm gonna quit and go work for Wynn or Derrick at their new store.

You really need to keep things professional as a manager over young teenage girls. I don't see ANY need for a manager to be hugging on or hanging around the young hostess like they are fresh meat or something. Just think, if you had a teenage daughter with her first job at O'Charley's, and you came to pick her up from work and see the 30/40 some year old manager hugging on your daughter. What would you think? Do you honestly think it is nessessary?? I am not saying Winn did that, I am just saying ALL managers should keep their hands, arms, feet, and whatever else to themselves. Do you think??

I agree that managers should keep tehir hands, feet, arms, whatever to themselves. What I am saying is that I see Stacey put his arms around the girls in the restaurant all the time and Derrick did too whats the difference between them and Wynn? Not saying that he did that either .. at least i never saw him do that. The only difference is they are black and he is not so the black host is gonna say harasment!! phuey!

Just to be fair and to set the record straight, Russ wasn't fired from O'Charley's for sexual harassment. Russ was slapping all the girls on the ass. This happened for several months before we finally decided to take action. It started when he was the KM and doing FOH shifts. I complained to the GM at the time, Trish, several times before it stopped with me, but it didn’t stop altogether. By the time he was our GM and Trish was gone, it got a little worse, so we finally decided to do something about it. We called the 800# and complained and we all got a meeting with Frank to talk about it and what we wanted done. We were not trying to be vindictive; we just wanted him out of our store and away from us. He was transferred to another store and demoted. He was promoted back to GM in about 4 or so months. He probably wouldn't have been promoted back so fast, but one of the GMs died, and he already had experience. I don't remember what store he was transferred to, and I never heard about any problems there. I can't really check on it though, since I don't know which store it was. He left on his own to go to Fieldhouse. I have heard from some people that he was fired from there for sexual harassment. The thing about this that is wrong is that when Russ came back, the managers chose to pretend that the whole thing at Gainesville never happened. I was told that Aaron told some employees that it was just a rumor. That was a slap in the face to me and calling me a liar. It put me in a very uncomfortable place having to work with him again, even though he and I kept our distance from each other. Something like sexual harassment should not be kept under wraps. People in the store should know, especially the girls. As far as Wynn goes, I never had a problem with him and never witnessed anything. He did tell me that he had been complained about, and he explained the situation from his side. I got a completely different story from the other side. Since I wasn't there, it is all just hearsay. What ever he may have done though, he didn't do anything as blatant as Russ did by slapping the girls at the Gainesville store on the ass. David was fired for sexual harassment too because of the thing with Abby. If O'Charley's is taking such a stand against sexual harassment, then why would they hire Russ back?

You know that is even worse than them hiring him back. The fact that they didn't warn anyone about his past and just act like nothing ever happened. What a s&%t hole of a place to work.
