Busser Appreciation Day

One of the hardest jobs here is server assistant, bus boy. These guys get little respect from management or servers. Their job is nasty, and they get no defined breaks. When they are pulled off the floor to make bread or prep, the servers disrespect them. If servers pre-bussed, their job would be a lot easier. It would help turn tables faster. Whose table would you clean first? I would get the one that was pre-bussed well, rather than one full of heavy dishes. A lot of the servers pick up dishes, and rather than taking them to the dish pit, they hand them off to the SA's. This is lazy and hurts the other servers who take theirs to the back. It is time that the selfish, weaker servers do their jobs. This does not mean dumping dishes by the trash cans either. It means stacking them in the pit. Show the bussers some appreciation. Learn their names. Try to see things from their view and things will operate smoother. You don't miss them until they're gone, so try to make sure they stay.

This blog is about the SA and not Stacey. He may be like this and I agree somewhat b/c he has promised and not delivered to me as well but this is about the SA's, both night and day ones. I have many times said thanks for thier work and many times not. I have put dishes in their pan and saved me time but then had they been there on time anyway I wouldn't need to. I do buss my own tables and many times I leave it to see how long it will take to get them to it. They should not choose who gets it first but the ones that leave should be cleaned regardless of how much there is. If the SA is busy with large clean up then you do it yourself and quit griping. They should be faster and straighten table properly when finished. They should also take back baby seats, etc but they don't. So thanks for your help and I do appreicate it but no sad feelings go your way from me b/c you chose to do this job... so do it right and have some pride in YOURSELF and your work. Your lack of desire and choosyness in where you buss first makes you look weak and greedy, not wanting to work and getting free pay. Do your job each and every day and I will support and thank you more.

If I treated our customers this way then they would complain or leave and not return. Your customers are your employees and your friends! We don't need you to work for us but to help us efficently. I can do this without you and have for a long time.

As for those that drop and stop at the dishwasher location... screw you and you are the ones I have a real issue with. Lazy actions from one trickle down to us all and we need to work together. Empty the full and overflowing plastic trash tub in the bag below it from time to time and don't always rely on others to do this. It takes me about 30 seconds to help my fellow servers and myself. Forget the me and work on the WE!
